No. It's not too late to register!  Yes, there is plenty of room for you and a friend.  Don't let money keep you from camp--your church and or friends will help. We guarantee it.  SYC is more than a place, it is hope in Jesus Christ and life long friendships. It is the spirit of God at work even in bad times--"My God and I go in the fields together..."

Grady received a letter from a former camper who is in jail.

"I was singing and worshiping in my bed and I had a vision of Sooner Youth Camp. We were singing on the picnic tables in the canteen area and one of the Bridgwater sisters started, "Higher Ground."  I always wanted to go back and be a counselor but I went down a different path that led me to jail." BUT PRAISE THE LORD FOR JAIL because I have made a turn and am headed back in the right direction. This time I do not have any plans of my own--my way did not work.  I am not letting go of my hope."

Don't miss SYC '09! It's more than a place--a people of HOPE!

"He is not here, he is risen!"
RAISED
The Red Letter Life
Do you have a red letter bible? You know, one of those with all the words of Jesus in red? We do. The red letter life is following the teachings of Jesus all the way to the resurrection. HE IS OUR HOPE.  AT SYC '09 WE will explore the implications of Jesus being raised from the dead.
The RAISED Jesus Christ, Son of God
is at the heart of the Christian faith.

In our pluralistic culture with many different religions and beliefs it is important to have reasons for the hope we have.  The Christian faith proclaims a resurrected Christ. No other religion makes such a claim.
Being able to dialog about this with others is important.
Baptism and communion are about the RAISED JESUS!
In addition to believing the resurrection happened is the kind of life that resurrection calls us to. This is about ethics--the way we live, and what motivates us to live as RAISED people.
Finally, we will consider what Jesus and his friends say about the final raising!
The classes, worship and devotionals will follow the theme.
We look forward to sharing the RAISED life with you soon.

What Campers say about SYC . . .
  • Sure it is hot! But there's no way I am going to miss coming to SYC!
  • I love forum because we get to talk about stuff we face at school and how to follow Christ.
  • Everyone is accepted at Sooner. You can be yourself and know that it is ok.
  • The lessons hit home to me about being strong and courageous for Christ.
  • The preaching each night really touched me and reminded me that I belong to Christ.
  • The food is awesome! Best camp food I have ever had.
  • The counselors and teachers are so approachable and helpful.
  • I like the small cabins--we really get close to one another in a short time.
  • Everyone serves in some way at Sooner--in the cabins, at the table, cleaning up, etc
  • The Circle, without a doubt is the highlight of each day. It's awesome
